A couple weeks ago, I got the chance to take a short self-declared spring break weekend trip to Miami Beach with my good friend G. It was a weird feeling, but so much fun getting to plan a vacation somewhere just the two of us, made me feel so grown up ;).

Isn't it pretty? I had a hard time narrowing down pictures to share with you. Beautiful palm trees everywhere, which was a rare sight for a Midwest girl.

Honestly, we didn't do a whole lot on the trip, which was exactly what we wanted to do. Each morning, we would just put on our swimsuits, grab our sunglasses and sunscreen, and head out to the beach. We also made sure to take plenty of selfies.

One of my favorite parts of a vacation - the food! We stopped by the cutest hole-in-the-wall cafe called Under the Mango Tree for snacks one afternoon. The acai bowls were really good and should probably be shared between two people. Emphasis on should. Do as I say, not as I did, ha. We also tried the marley smoothie (peanut butter + kale + spinach + banana + almond milk). They used natural peanut butter so it wasn't overly sweet, which I liked.

We also had our fill of the popular Cuban sandwiches, which is ham, roasted pork, swiss cheese, pickles, and mustard on Cuban bread. You know me, if it has bread and cheese in it, you've got my attention. The ones we tried at Puerto Sagua were pretty good. While you're at it, try the Cuban espresso too!

Miami Beach is a pretty small area, so it was easy to get around. We mostly walked but the Ubers there are fairly cheap. There are plenty of restaurants near Ocean Drive, more than we could try. If you get tired of beach bumming (is that even possible?), check out the many stores on Ocean Drive or Lincoln Road Mall.

After two and a half days, we were definitely not ready for the trip to be over. I guess it's time to plan the next one!
