Life

Our lives begin to end the day that we become silent about things that matter.
- Martin Luther King Jr.

This past week, in conjunction with the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, a lot of activities were held around the Twin Cities area to remind everybody about the importance and significance of choosing life. The pictures above show the Prayerful March for Life that was held on the UofM campus that I participated in.

Several interesting / important tidbits that I learned regarding the issue this week:
  • Norma McCorvey (under the alias Jane Roe), who was filing the suit to get an abortion, did not end up aborting her baby but gave him/her up for adoption instead.
  • Norma McCorvey (aka Jane Roe) is now a pro-life activist (say what?!).
  • You can hear a baby's heartbeat at 4 weeks.
  • Rape only accounts for 1% of abortions.

Here's a quote from the movie Juno:

"The-the baby? I don't really know much about it other than, I mean, it has fingernails, allegedly."

Here, Juno has decided to keep her baby after considering a statement her friend made about the baby in her tummy having fingernails and feeling pain. That makes you think, doesn't it? Should a being with a beating heart and fingernails be considered human? Do we have the right to decide which humans should live and which shouldn't?

Note: I am not in any way judging anybody who has ever had an abortion. There is always hope and forgiveness in God.
